New Orleans, La.- Entergy
Corporation (NYSE:ETR) today announced the election of Dr. Stewart C. Myers, a
renowned expert in the field of finance, to its board of directors.
“We are thrilled to have not only a
person of Stewart Myers’s ability, experience and reputation, but actually THE
Stewart Myers himself join our board,” said J. Wayne Leonard, Entergy’s chairman
and chief executive officer. “As we face a period of growing investment for
cleaner energy and more efficient usage, combined with more complicated
financial alternatives and structures, Dr. Myers expertise and experience will
be invaluable in providing guidance and oversight.
He makes an already outstanding board
even better; particularly in an area that is very difficult for boards to
attract the kind of deep subject matter understanding and knowledge of a person
in such demand as Dr. Myers.”
Stewart C. Myers is the Robert C,
Merton (1970) Professor of Financial Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology Sloan School of Management. His research has concentrated on the

theory of corporate governance. Myers is the co-author of the classic graduate
level textbook, Principles of Corporate Finance, which is now in its 9th
edition. He has published widely cited research papers on valuation methods and
corporate financing decisions.
Myers is also a noted and highly

financial theory and practice. He has appeared as an expert witness in major
cases and regulatory proceedings, testifying on the cost of capital, the
