New Orleans, La. – Corporate
Responsibility magazine has named Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) one of the
“100 Best Corporate Citizens” in the nation. It is the fourth time in five years
that Entergy has earned the distinction.
The magazine’s 12th annual ranking of
the top corporate citizens is based on an analysis of publicly available
information used to rank performance of the 1,000 largest companies in seven
areas: climate change, environment, philanthropy, employee relations, financial,
governance and human rights. Entergy was previously included on the list in
2007, 2008 and 2009.
“Every day, in everything we do,
Entergy employees ask themselves if this is the right thing, the fair thing to
do. That’s what’s always expected. What makes our employees particularly worthy
of this honor is the personal and collective commitment to constantly ask not
only is this the right thing to do, but also, what are we not doing that we
could do? What more could we do to create stronger communities, a more inclusive
work environment, cleaner air, a more sustainable world, a better future for the
less fortunate? And then they proceed to do just that,” said J. Wayne Leonard,
chairman and chief executive officer of Entergy.
Entergy Corporation is an integrated
energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail
distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with
approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, and it is the
second-largest nuclear generator in the United States. Entergy delivers
electricity to 2.7 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi
and Texas. Entergy has annual revenues of more than $11 billion and
approximately 15,000 employees.
