Where To Find Help

HANDLING DIFFICULT SITUATIONS AND OBTAINING GUIDANCE

Entergy’s compliance system does not and cannot cover all possible circumstances or anticipate every situation. Entergy’s Guiding Principles, as well as principles discussed in the System Policies, can help guide you in handling difficult situations not directly addressed by the law. Entergy’s Ethics and Compliance Office maintains a site on the EntergyNET that is available to Entergy employees. At this site, you can access a copy of this Code, System Policies, contact names, resource materials and training materials.

The best course of action is not always obvious. The following steps may be useful in reaching a decision:

  • Gather the facts
  • Identify the issue(s)
  • Use available resources
  • Identify the standards that apply (e.g. values, laws, policies)
  • Consider the options
  • Consider the consequences of the decision

Before making any decision, you should carefully consider the following questions:

  • Is my decision consistent with the values of fairness, honesty and integrity?
  • Is my decision consistent with the letter and spirit of the law and the principles underlying Entergy’s compliance system?
  • Am I worried that my decision will be discovered?
  • Would I be comfortable if my decision was reported in the news media?
  • What would I tell my child to do?

If you have any doubts or concerns about your compliance obligations or about proper reporting procedures, contact your supervisor, your Human Resources representative or the Ethics and Compliance Office. If you are ever unclear on where to turn for help, call the toll free Ethics Line.
