Affordable Housing

Helping individuals and families rebuild their homes and reclaim their lives

Entergy and its employees partnered with nonprofit organizations to help build or rebuild 1,300 single-family or multi-family homes that were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. Our partners included the St. Bernard Project, Volunteers of America, Preservation Resource Center/Rebuilding Together, Phoenix New Orleans, Make it Right, and Habitat for Humanity. Entergy played a critical role in helping Volunteers of America establish the Renaissance Neighborhood Development Corporation. Entergy provided seed funding and planning grants that enabled VOA and the RNDC to leverage $100 million in public and private funding to build single- or multi- family homes for almost 800 low income families, individuals and seniors in this region.

Projects included:

• Terraces on Tulane, Orleans Parish
• Centennial Place, Orleans Parish
• Elysian Courtyard, Orleans Parish
• Wisdom Manor, Orleans Parish
• The Grove, St. Tammany Parish
• Bayou Cane Apartments, Terrebonne Parish

Entergy's early partnership and support of the St. Bernard Project enabled the nonprofit to help more than 600 families rebuild their homes and reclaim their lives.
