Companies will follow award-winning restoration process
New Orleans, La. – With the remnants of the tropical weather system known as
Bonnie approaching southeast Louisiana, the Entergy companies that serve the
southern part of the state are prepared and ready for action once the storm
passes.
Local crews from Entergy Louisiana, LLC and Entergy New Orleans, Inc., are
staged near the potential impact areas and will be joined by other Entergy crews
from the Lake Charles area and north Louisiana. Additionally, there are
additional crews, including more than 100 workers from Entergy Texas, Inc., on
standby that can be deployed if needed.
Once the storm passes, the restoration crews will follow Entergy’s proven and
award-winning restoration process. Tree trimmers will begin clearing lines while
scouts will assess the damage to determine the most heavily impacted areas. The
first priority for the restoration teams will be to repair the grid for
emergency services such as hospitals, fire and police stations and pumping
stations. Other priorities include nursing homes and communication outlets.
Restoration crews then work to repair lines that will get lights back on for the
greatest number of people before moving into smaller, less populated areas.
Earlier this year, Entergy won the Edison Electric Institute’s Emergency
Recovery Award for outstanding efforts in power restoration. It marked the 12th
consecutive year that Entergy has received a storm response award from the EEI.
Entergy is the only utility in the country that has been honored every year
since the EEI Emergency Response Awards were first presented in 1998.
