Entergy Texas Urges Customers to Take Control of Their Bills, Sign

Beaumont, Texas – Temperatures may be rising but, according to Entergy Texas, Inc., customers can still stay calm, cool and collected when it comes time to pay their electric bill.

We are encouraging our customers to take control of their bills by signing up for level billing,” said Vernon Pierce, customer service director, Entergy Texas, Inc. “It’s one of many tools we make available to help customers manage their budgets.

When you know about what you can expect to pay for a service or product, you can better plan your budget. That’s especially important to our customers during the summer, when electric bills are typically their highest and also during this difficult economy.”

Customers using level billing pay about the same amount for electricity every month, summer or winter. Bills are averaged over a 12-month period based on the customer’s usage. Winter bills may become a little higher, but the typical high bills of summer are cut to size.

“Level billing helps you know what to plan for,” Pierce said. “But we still show you on the bill exactly what your usage is so you will be able to monitor it. There are no surprises.”

In addition to level billing, Entergy Texas offers two other programs that can help customers manage payments. All programs are offered free of charge.

  • CareFree 3. CareFree 3 combines level billing with two other popular programs, Pick-a-Date and automatic monthly payments. Pick-a-Date allows customers to choose the date their bills are due while automatic monthly payments involve direct draw draft from the customer’s bank account.

  • Equal Pay. Equal pay is similar to level billing in that it, too, lowers hot weather bills. In equal pay, however, customers receive the same bill amount for 12 months. That amount would only change if usage changed significantly. The balance is reconciled annually.
