"Positioned for Progress" Joint Conference Set for May 23-25 in Jackson

Registration is limited and many sessions are open to the public

JACKSON, Miss. –Statewide leaders from Mississippi’s non-profits, government agencies, foundations and volunteer organizations will gather in Jackson in May for a historic meeting to address the state’s pressing needs in the areas of poverty, education, disaster relief, creative economy and volunteer service.

Formerly known as Entergy Mississippi’s Low Income Summit, the annual event, in its 13th year, has been expanded to include a broader spectrum of speakers, participants and topics. The conference will take place May 23 through May 25 at the Jackson Convention Complex. Joining Entergy in hosting the event are the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits, the Mississippi Association of Grantmakers, the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service, the Mississippi Association of Community Action Agencies and the Mississippi Arts Commission.

Keynote speakers include Governor Phil Bryant, Mississippi Economic Council Executive Director Blake Wilson, University of Mississippi Meek School of Journalism and New Media Assistant Dean and Assistant Professor Charles D. “Charlie” Mitchell and the CEO of Public Allies and author of Everyone Leads: Building Leadership from the Community Up, Paul Schmitz.

Those interested may register through one of the partner groups at MACAA Conference, Nonprofit Management and Leadership Conference, or the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service. However, registration is limited.
