Buchanan, N.Y. – Control room operators returned the Indian Point unit 2 nuclear power plant to service Thursday evening, June 7.

The plant automatically shut down yesterday, June 6, when an electrical board that regulates current inside the generator failed. The electrical board has been replaced.

Unit 3 continues to operate at full power.

Indian Point Energy Center, in Buchanan, N.Y., is home to two operating nuclear
power plants, unit 2 and unit 3, which generate approximately 2000 megawatts of electricity for homes, business and public facilities in New York City and Westchester County.
