Fourth Consecutive Year Company Highly Ranked on Corporate Equality Index
New Orleans, La. – Entergy
Corporation has once again earned a high rating on the Corporate Equality Index,
an annual survey that grades companies on their workplace nondiscrimination
policies for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers.
Entergy earned a 90 percent rating on
the 2013 Corporate Equality Index, the fourth year in a row the company’s rating
reached a standard met by only a small number of Fortune 500 companies.
Administered by the Human Rights
Campaign Foundation, the index rates U.S. corporations on their
nondiscrimination policies on sexual orientation and gender identity. It
measures employer practices on diversity training, health care and domestic
For the first time, a majority of
Fortune 500 companies offer both sexual orientation and gender identity
protections, according to the report.
“Our rating once again demonstrates
Entergy’s commitment to maintaining a positive work environment that respects
the dignity and worth of each employee,” said Renae Conley, Entergy executive
vice president, human resources and administration, and chief diversity officer.
