Entergy Corporation Recognized for Diversity and Inclusion

Fourth Consecutive Year Company Highly Ranked on Corporate Equality Index

New Orleans, La. – Entergy Corporation has once again earned a high rating on the Corporate Equality Index, an annual survey that grades companies on their workplace nondiscrimination policies for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workers.

Entergy earned a 90 percent rating on the 2013 Corporate Equality Index, the fourth year in a row the company’s rating reached a standard met by only a small number of Fortune 500 companies.

Administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the index rates U.S. corporations on their nondiscrimination policies on sexual orientation and gender identity. It measures employer practices on diversity training, health care and domestic partnership benefits.

For the first time, a majority of Fortune 500 companies offer both sexual orientation and gender identity protections, according to the report.

“Our rating once again demonstrates Entergy’s commitment to maintaining a positive work environment that respects the dignity and worth of each employee,” said Renae Conley, Entergy executive vice president, human resources and administration, and chief diversity officer. “We are honored that HRC has recognized our inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.”

Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, including more than 10,000 megawatts of nuclear power, making it one of the nation’s leading nuclear generators. Entergy delivers electricity to 2.8 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Entergy has annual revenues of more than $11 billion and approximately 15,000 employees.
