A Message from Wayne Leonard

Entergy provides reliable energy, one of the most basic and important elements of modern life, to more than 2.6 million customers in Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Texas – customers of all ages, races religions and backgrounds.  What they all have in common is a commitment to making their families and their communities stronger. It’s a commitment we share.

Through the Entergy Supplier Diversity & Development Program, we are seeing to it that our company better reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. Diverse organizations make better decisions and perform better, so it makes sense to build strong relationships with businesses of all kinds and sizes.  Plus, we just think it’s the right thing to do.

As our Supply organization consolidates purchasing through integrated partnering, we have built in guarantees that our primary suppliers use minority and women-owned business through a second-tier program. Simply put, if a prime supplier does not reflect our values, they do not get our business. And we still pursue direct procurement opportunities with minority and women-owned firms where practical.

We are proud of our longstanding support of diverse supplier opportunities.  Nearly 20 years ago, we signed a Declaration of Fair Share Principles with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In doing so, we became the first electric utility holding company to commit to diversity with the NAACP in major aspects of our business like employment/upward mobility, board of director representation, philanthropic contributions and procurement. We still hold this distinction, and I am proud to say that since that time we have spent more than $2.7 billion through our supplier diversity initiative.

I invite you to learn more about our Supplier Diversity and Development Program and what it means to work with Entergy. Working together, we can do great things for each other and for the communities we call home.

Sincerely,
J. Wayne Leonard
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
