Thank a lineworker today
Today, we take the opportunity to recognize the commitment and sacrifice made by lineworkers across the country to power our communities. Entergy joins the Edison Electric Institute, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and other industry groups in observing National Lineworker Appreciation Day on July 10, which also honors the life and work of Henry Miller, the first president of IBEW.

Hooker scores points at work, in the community to win Lineman of the Game honors
Entergy Mississippi Shift Serviceman Terry Hooker from the Indianola network has some 22 years’ experience helping keep the lights on in Mississippi. His hard work, focus on safety and mentorship of newer lineman has earned the veteran ‘Lineman of the Game’ honors. Hooker will take it all in when the New Orleans Saints battle their bitter rivals, the Dirty Birds (AKA the Atlanta Falcons), in the Superdome on Sunday, Dec. 18.

Helping on a moment’s notice
The sight of emergency services arriving on the scene of an accident on July 10 brought great relief to bystanders, as Aaron Morehead finished tying off the end of a 100-foot hand line to his service truck. On other end of the rope, which would normally be used while the Entergy New Orleans lineman is working high in the air on a utility pole, was instead providing a lifeline for a truck driver whose vehicle had crashed into Lake Pontchartrain.

Safety is a Way of Life for Jerry Wilson Jr.
Entergy has been part of Jerry Wilson Jr.’s life as long as he can remember. His father recently retired from the company after 40 years of service. When it came time to choose his own career path, Jerry was naturally drawn to the company. He joined Entergy Mississippi as a lineman trainee 18 years ago. Since then, he has worked in Jackson, Clinton and Vicksburg in various roles, including journeyman lineman, operations coordinator, service supervisor and construction supervisor. Currently a construction supervisor in Jackson, Jerry works diligently to provide safe and reliable service to customers every day.
