Entergy Mississippi makes significant progress following Hurricane Francine

As of 4:30 p.m., the storm has caused approximately 11,000 customers to lose power in our service area. Crews have worked as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to approximately 6,500 customers.

Entergy’s Waterford 3 Nuclear Generating Station and River Bend Station in Louisiana and Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in Mississippi operated at full power during Hurricane Francine, which once again shows the resiliency and strength of nuclear power.

Entergy Mississippi Hurricane Francine update – 9/12/24, 1 p.m.

Hurricane Francine, currently a tropical depression, continues moving northeastward from Louisiana through Mississippi. At 7 a.m., we had approximately 10,790 customer outages in the southern portion of our Entergy Mississippi territory. Outages are expected to fluctuate throughout the day as the storm moves through our service area and, therefore, are subject to change based upon the storm’s impact.

Peak hurricane season is upon us

Hurricane Beryl making landfall early in the season reminded us we must remain ready for anything. With experts continuing to forecast above average activity and the peak of the Atlantic hurricane season occurring from late August through September, take the time now to review your preparedness plans.

Entergy Mississippi storm update – 8/21/24, 5 p.m.

We thank you for your patience while we restored your power as a result of the storms that occurred Sunday evening. Restoration is complete and electrical power has been restored to all customers who can safely receive power. If your power is not restored, please check for damage to the electrical equipment attached to your home or business. If your electrical equipment sustained damage, these items must be repaired by a qualified electrician before Entergy can restore. Permits may be required. Entergy Arkansas storm update – 8/20/24, 5 p.m.

Power has been restored to nearly all Entergy Arkansas customers impacted by this week’s storms. Multiple fronts caused widespread outages across the state. Since the peak outage count of 39,370 during the evening of Aug. 18, Entergy Arkansas has successfully restored power to 99% of customers impacted.

Entergy Mississippi storm update – 8/20/24, 5 p.m.

Sunday evening thunderstorms brought heavy rains, strong winds, and lightning strikes into our service territory, causing fallen trees and broken tree limbs resulting in a peak outage count of 21,103. With a continued strong restoration effort last night and today, as of 5 p.m., 1,871 customers remain without power. Damage assessment has identified damages to 68 poles, 21 transformers, 65 cross arms, and over 72,000 feet of downed wire. A workforce of Entergy crews and additional resources of damage assessors, vegetation crews, line workers, and support personnel are diligently working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible through this event.

Entergy Arkansas storm update – 8/20/24, 11 a.m.

Entergy Arkansas has successfully restored power to 93% of customers impacted by multiple storm fronts on Sunday. Crews have worked diligently to safely restore approximately 39,370 power interruptions since the peak of storm fronts moved through the state on Aug. 18. Currently there are approximately 3,042 remaining customer outages. 

Entergy Mississippi storm update – 8/19/24, 8 p.m.

Overnight thunderstorms brought heavy rains, strong winds, and lighting strikes into our service territory causing fallen trees and broken tree limbs resulting in outages and damages to our facilities.  As of 11 p.m. last night, a peak of 21,103 customers were without power. A strong restoration effort has taken place today and as of 7 p.m., 5,118 customers remain without power. Damage assessment has identified damages to 53 poles, 15 transformers, 35 cross arms, and over 42,000 feet  of downed wire. A workforce of damage assessors, vegetation crews, line workers, and support personnel are diligently working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible through this event. To support the restoration, 180 additional workers were requested and are currently working on site.

Entergy Mississippi storm update – 6/7/24, 3 p.m.

Restoration is complete after storms, including two confirmed tornadoes, moved through Entergy Mississippi’s service territory this week. Fallen trees and limbs damaged our facilities and caused outages. Since Monday night, crews restored power to 66,074 customers. Electrical power has been restored to all customers who can safely receive power.
