Entergy Mississippi Employee Saves Life with Heimlich Maneuver

After starting their day before sunrise and working eight hours, Entergy Mississippi linemen Dan Sund and Jude Miller and trainee Christian Sullivan finally had a chance to grab lunch after responding to an outage. While finishing their meal, a gentleman at a nearby table started choking. A restaurant employee attempted to assist him, but he quit breathing. That’s when Sund stepped in.

Entergy Mississippi Finds ‘Jobs for Youths’

This summer, Entergy Mississippi introduced four high school students to what their future could look like with the “Jobs for Youths” high school internship pilot. The program was developed by George Cossar, customer service representative, Bobby Shipp, line supervisor, and Anna Hughes, regional sourcing recruiter, and focused on students in the northern region. “We wanted to give students the opportunity to see what a great company Entergy is to work for,” said Hughes. “This helps them understand the many career opportunities available to them after they complete technical school or college. An added plus for the students is that the internship will look great on their résumés!”The six-week long internships had the students primarily assisting the storeroom manager. In addition to learning about how the company works and what the materials are, the interns had time to shadow employees who worked in their fields of interest.

Baxter Wilson Employees are Stars

It’s not every day that a company can say that it employs celebrities, but Entergy Mississippi has a whole plant full of stars!   Our Baxter Wilson plant in Vicksburg recently received its OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star recertification, acknowledging that the site is committed to effective employee protection beyond the requirements of OSHA standards. Plant Technician Russell Standish led the recertification effort. He provided personnel escorts, paperwork and manpower to support the recertification effort.
