As we look ahead to the winter season, Entergy is prepared and encourages customers to prepare as well. Even if we live or work where extremely cold temperatures are not common, it's still important to be prepared for freezing and inclement weather.

Heading into the 2005 hurricane season, Entergy employees gathered to participate in the annual systemwide storm exercise. The fictional scenario that year involved two back-to-back hurricanes striking our service area. Fast forward a few months later, hurricanes Katrina and Rita made landfall less than a month apart.

Light after the storm: 20 years strong Episode 2

On Aug. 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made its second of three landfalls near Buras, Louisiana – after initially crossing over South Florida. Hours later, after receding into the Gulf, Katrina returned slamming into the Louisiana-Mississippi border as a Category 3 hurricane.
