Entergy Texas crews have restored power to more than 90% of customers impacted by Edouard. As of 9 a.m. Friday, approximately 6,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of approximately 80,000 customers impacted by the storm.

Despite continued rain and challenging conditions, more than 2,100 workers, including lineworkers, vegetation crews, damage assessors and support personnel, have been working in multiple shifts to provide 24-hour coverage to surpass the committed milestone. Restoration teams will continue safely working as quickly as possible until every customer is restored.

Damage assessments are nearly 100% complete, having identified approximately 316 damaged poles, 144 damaged transformers, 348 damaged crossarms and 895 spans of downed wire. Where possible, restoration happens in parallel with assessments.

Some estimated restoration times have been adjusted to account for the additional time required to reach impacted communities and repair equipment in areas affected by Thursday’s rain and flooding. Customers can find the latest information on the View Outage Map.

Many of the remaining outages affect smaller groups of customers in locations with extensive damage, flooded or blocked roads, saturated ground and difficult-to-access electrical equipment. In some cases, a single repair that requires several hours of work may restore power to only a few customers.

Additional heavy rain is possible Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Crews will continue to utilize specialized equipment, like boats, rear-alley machines and drones, to aid restoration efforts in areas that are difficult to access.

Make sure your home or business is ready for us to restore power

Customers whose neighborhoods have been restored but remain without power may have damage to electrical equipment attached to their home or business. A licensed electrician must repair damaged equipment before Entergy can safely restore service.

Outage totals may fluctuate as crews isolate damaged portions of the system to safely complete repairs or as saturated trees and limbs fall onto electrical equipment. This does not mean restoration work has stopped.

Stay safe during restoration

Customers should continue to use caution around floodwaters, debris and electrical equipment:

• Stay away from downed power lines and anything they may be touching. Always assume a downed line is energized.

• Do not walk or drive through floodwaters. Flooding can hide electrical hazards and other dangers.

• Do not trim trees or remove debris near downed power lines. Only qualified crews should remove vegetation touching electrical equipment.

• Keep a safe distance from crews and work zones so employees can safely complete restoration work.

• If using a generator, follow all manufacturer instructions and never operate it indoors or in an enclosed space.

• Report downed or damaged power lines by calling 1-800-9OUTAGE (1-800-968-8243).
