It’s a new year, a new decade. Like many, we’re setting our goals, hopes and dreams for the upcoming year. The future looks bright thanks to our 2019 successes. As we roar into 2020, we celebrate those accomplishments. They warmed our hearts, made us proud and helped us serve our communities, customers, employees and shareholders.

When you share your hometown with Archie Manning, it’s hard not to be a New Orleans Saints fan. As a boy, Kevin Rogers moved to Drew, Mississippi, and became an instant fan of the town’s most famous football son.
Three Entergy Mississippi linemen from Cleveland, Mississippi became social media superstars when theysaved a motoristfrom floodwaters in late February. Now, they’ve earned official hero status. Haley Fisackerly, president and CEO of Entergy Mississippi, awarded Kevin Rogers, senior lineman, Justin Griffin and Nathan Enriquez, both lineman first class, the company’s President’s Lifesaving Award on May 7.
The devastating Easter Flood of 1979 is an unforgettable part of Jackson, Mississippi’s history. The Pearl River crested and flooded the city’s downtown that April. As expected, the community rose above the devastation. And Entergy, then Mississippi Power & Light, employees were there, fighting to protect the community’s electric power supply. Now 40 years later, some of our employees and retirees still remember the damage and how they pulled together to maintain service to customers.
Cleveland crew saves stranded motorist from flood
Chris Smith came to Entergy through little league baseball. His coach worked at the company and later hired Chris as a groundman. That was 34 years ago. Since then, Chris has worked his way through the ranks as a lineworker to his current role as a senior training specialist at our Knowledge and Skills Training center in Clinton, Mississippi.
It takes courage – and curiosity – to venture down a completely new career path. That may explain why some of our engineers are flourishing in non-engineering positions. Their analytical, solution-oriented skills are helping them design their own success. During National Engineers Week, we salute them for conquering new professional territories.
