An old refrigerator or freezer can take up valuable space and continue using energy, even when it’s rarely opened. Over time, older refrigerators can use about 35% more energy than newer, energy-efficient models, which can translate to meaningful savings if you decide to upgrade.
Whether you’re planning to replace an older appliance, looking to free up space in your garage or basement, or simply ready to get rid of a working unit you no longer need, appliance recycling offers a practical solution.
When you recycle through our Appliance Recycling program, trained technicians handle the heavy lifting. Your appliance is picked up and refrigerants, oils, mercury, and other potentially harmful materials are safely removed away from your home. Recycling also keeps 120+ pounds of reusable steel and other materials out of landfills, with most components reused in new products.
Participation is easy. Schedule a free pickup for your working fridge and/or freezer and it will be hauled away and recycled. You’ll also receive $25 for each recycled appliance, up to a total of $50. It’s a convenient way to clear space, reduce energy waste, help the environment, and earn a little extra along the way.
