Entergy Arkansas crews helped start the morning on a bright note at The Sunshine School in Searcy, greeting students as they arrived for class.
The Sunshine School is a nonprofit organization serving pre-k through adult students with special needs and providing them with education programs. With stickers and bracelets in hand, employees welcomed each person with a cheerful wave.
“We’re letting our light shine today,” said Entergy Arkansas Lineman Logan Williams.
The warm greetings and small giveaways help students feel seen and excited to start the day. For Williams, the moment was personal.
“I have a seven-year-old with down syndrome,” Williams said. “I heard some of the guys say, ‘I need this in my life every day.’ I have this in my life every day, so to see Entergy embrace the concept of being here and telling them hi and letting these guys give hugs, it let everybody see both sides of what a day is like for me and what this school has to offer.”
As students walked into class, crews could feel the joy created by this simple visit.
“They are jumping off the bus, singing songs, giving hugs and saying hello,” Williams said. “Watching these kids come in, just happy to be here and happy to be in the world is wonderful.”
Entergy Arkansas Line Superintendent Terrance Roberts said the morning was more than a greeting.
“This is their college, this is their school, this is their work,” Roberts said. “We just want to bring a little joy to start their day.”
Holding the door for smiling students, Roberts said the impact is immediate.
“They just want to know that we see them and that they matter, so I think being here is one of the best things that we could be doing,” Roberts said.
As the last buses emptied and the morning rush settled, crews headed back to their day’s work carrying more than they brought.
“I think that everybody that works in the Searcy office, their day is starting off a little bit humbler and a little bit happier,” Williams said.
What began as a morning greeting quickly became a meaningful reminder that sometimes the smallest gestures create the brightest moments.
