As winter temperatures settle across Arkansas, many families feel the impact not only in the air, but in their energy usage. That’s why Entergy Arkansas Entergy Solutions programs focus on helping customers save energy and money.

Through the Home Energy Solutions program, homeowners can receive energy-saving products and services—at no additional cost. In Russell, Entergy Arkansas worked closely with the mayor and city council to bring the program directly into the community. Entergy Arkansas Customer Service Manager Todd Welter helped coordinate the effort.

“We recently worked with the local mayor and city council to identify residents who could benefit from these improvements,” Welter said. “All Entergy Arkansas customers can benefit.”

During each visit, authorized trade allies perform a comprehensive Home Energy Assessment to evaluate how energy flows through the home.

“They are looking at anything from lighting needs, air gaps in doors, they are going in the attic to make sure they are insulated adequately,” Welter said. “They are looking at their HVAC ducts and registers to make sure we are cooling and heating the right portions of the house.”

Then, the work begins. According to Russell City Council member Brenda Poole, 80 homeowners agreed to participate. Every home received some form of improvement from weather strips to added insulation.

“A lot of our residents are elderly with fixed incomes and living in older homes so anything that could help them is a plus,” Poole said. “We love our town and want to do anything we can for the people here.”

Homeowner Dennis Pearrow said the program delivered peace of mind.

“This house is more than 20 years old,” Pearrow said. “It never hurts to have someone look at your place and make sure you are up to date with everything you need for energy savings.”

For Pearrow and other customers who took advantage of the program, the improvements are providing welcome relief during the winter months.

“It’s inspiring to me to see a company that provides a service be willing to help their customers actually lessen their energy usage,” Pearrow said. “I think it’s a great commitment for a local company to do this in their area.”
