From the deserts of Afghanistan to the electric grid of Southeast Texas, Luis Correa’s career journey has been built on service.
Correa, a journeyman lineman who works in Entergy’s Port Arthur service network, will step into the spotlight as the Lineman of the Game during the New Orleans Saints vs. Cleveland Browns matchup on Nov. 8 at the Caesars Superdome. The program is a partnership between Entergy and the Saints that celebrates employees for their job performance, commitment to safety and service to their communities.
Before joining Entergy in 2020, Correa served seven years in the U.S. Army, including a combat deployment to Afghanistan. While stationed in Fort Hood, Texas, he realized he was ready for a new challenge. Correa says the line trade appealed to him because it offered a new way to apply his military discipline and teamwork skills.
“The military taught me you’re part of a team looking out for each other,” he said. “You’re your brother’s keeper. That mindset of solving problems together and getting past obstacles is something I knew I wanted to apply to a new career.”
Six years into his tenure at Entergy, what keeps him energized is the impact of his work.
“Before you get there, there’s a problem,” Correa explained. “When you leave, it’s solved. You might restore an entire town, a neighborhood, or a single home. Either way, you made a real difference.”
He’s also discovered another passion: building the next generation.
“Developing the next generation of line workers is one of the reasons I take my job so seriously,” he said. “I see young kids on their first job, and I want to be the example and show them what it looks like to do this right.”
Correa’s dedication to safety, reliability, and his team—rooted in the same “brother’s keeper” mindset that defined his military service—is why he’s earned the Lineman of the Game recognition. Whether he’s restoring power to a neighborhood or mentoring the next generation, his mission remains the same: get the job done right and make sure everyone goes home safe.
