Entergy Arkansas continues to closely monitor the winter weather expected to impact the state bringing snow, sleet and freezing rain. We are committed to keeping our customers safe, informed and supported as conditions develop.

Forecasts indicate widespread winter precipitation beginning late Friday and continuing through Sunday. Central to northern Arkansas could see 6 -10 inches of snow, while portions of southern Arkansas may experience freezing rain and ice accumulations of up to 0.75 inches. Ice accumulation can pose a significant risk to trees, power lines and travel conditions.

Our power delivery teams are actively monitoring system conditions and strategically balancing load across the state to protect customers and equipment. Entergy Arkansas remains storm-ready 365 days a year, with crews positioned and equipped to respond safely and as quickly as possible if outages occur.

Customer support measures

To help customers navigate this severe weather, all disconnections have been proactively suspended through Monday, February 2. We will reassess based on weather conditions, and disconnections will resume only when temperatures are above 32 degrees.

While we work to restore power as quickly as possible, restoration during extreme cold can take longer due to hazardous conditions and increased demand on heating systems. We appreciate our customers’ patience as crews work safely under challenging circumstances.

Restoration process

As the storm impacts Arkansas, crews will deploy approximately 300 damage assessors to evaluate affected areas. Estimated restoration times are based on these assessments and will be communicated as soon as they become available, with updates provided as conditions change.

Ice accumulation adds significant weight to trees and power lines. As little as half an inch of ice can increase the weight of a tree limb by up to 30 times, increasing the risk of outages.

When power is restored, a surge in demand from heating units and appliances can occasionally interrupt service. To help reduce this risk, customers are encouraged to turn off electric heaters and other major appliances until power has been fully restored.

Safety reminders

  • Stay away from downed power lines — they can be deadly
  • Report downed lines or damaged equipment by calling 1-800-9OUTAGE
  • Never attempt to remove debris near power lines
  • Keep clear of work areas where crews are restoring service
  • Use generators outdoors only and follow all manufacturer safety guidelines
  • Check on seniors and vulnerable neighbors
  • Avoid travel when possible to reduce accidents and allow crews safe access
