Eight communities win matching grants to further economic development goals

STEM Goes RednEntergy was the presenting sponsor of the American Heart Association’s 2022 STEM Goes Red event on March 24 at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. The event encourages young women to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math. Fifty high school girls assembled for the first in-person event since 2020, engaging in a daylong event of hands-on STEM activities and mentorship. The day kicked off with a talk by Taiwan Brown, vice-president, diversity and workforce strategies, on increase diversity in STEM fields for women.

Entergy’s shareholders and the Entergy Charitable Foundation awarded 1,500 nonprofits with $18.2 million in total contributions last year.

An investment in education is an investment in a child’s future. Even more so when that child also faces language and communication learning disabilities, like the students atMagnolia Speech School. The Jackson-based non-profit school, which helps students with hearing loss and communication disorders overcome speech and literacy barriers, is “Building Hope” to expand their services and facilities with help from Entergy Mississippi.

The students at Booker T. Washington Elementary and Bale Elementary are winter-ready, thanks to a partnership between the Local Firefighters Union 34 and Entergy Arkansas. Through a project called “Operation Warm,” firefighters and Entergy Arkansas are outfitting students in pre-K through fifth grade at the two public schools with new winter coats.
