Pro Bono Institute recognizes Marcus Brown with 2025 Laurie D. Zelon Pro Bono Award
The Pro Bono Institute has awarded Entergy’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel Marcus Brown with the prestigious 2025 Laurie D. Zelon Pro Bono Award. This annual accolade honors individuals and organizations that exemplify outstanding dedication to pro bono legal services, and Brown's leadership has been instrumental in fostering a culture of community service within Entergy’s legal department.

Entergy provides free legal assistance to vulnerable community members during second Pro Bono Day
For the second year in a row, Entergy participated in EmPOWERing Pro Bono Day, an industry-wide service day that we helped found to provide pro bono legal support for low-income, vulnerable community members in electric companies’ service areas. The event was launched in 2022 by the Pro Bono Institute in partnership with Entergy's legal department and the Edison Electric Institute. The event serves to spotlight the need to increase access to justice by providing legal services to marginalized communities and promote in-house pro bono collaboration with law firms and legal services organizations.

Entergy’s pro bono team helps Afghan refugee family seek asylum
This year, Entergy’s pro bono team successfully assisted an Afghan refugee family in their pursuit of immigration asylum in the United States. In 2021, the parents and their young child were forced to flee their homeland amid the escalating conflict and insecurity that ensued as U.S. military forces withdrew from Afghanistan and the Taliban retook control of the country.

Entergy to provide free legal assistance to Rolling Fork tornado survivors
Survivors of the tornadoes that devastated the Mississippi Delta in March can receive free legal help from Entergy employees. Trained employee volunteers are available to help homeowners and renters in Carroll, Humphreys and Sharkey counties file Federal Emergency Management Agency appeals.

First industry-wide Pro Bono Day of Service helps vulnerable customers and communities
Last November, EEI joined a group of member companies and the Pro Bono Institute in hosting EmPOWERing Pro Bono Day, a first-ever event for the electric power industry. Participants used the day of service to offer legal support to low-income, marginalized communities in electric companies’ service territories.

Legal Department Celebrates the Power of Pro Bono
When Cathy Gracia, an attorney in the legal department, signed up for a pro bono shift at Wills for Heroes in Covington, La., she knew she would be helping families, but she had no idea she would be assisting a family member of an Entergy employee. Wills for Heroes is a legal clinic that prepares essential legal documents, such as wills, living wills and powers of attorney, to families of first responders for free.
