BOLIVAR PENINSULA, Texas - A $110 million reliability project designed to meet the growing electrical demand and improve service on the Bolivar Peninsula will soon move to the next phase of construction. Entergy Texas’ Bolivar Peninsula Reliability Project is a combination of equipment upgrades and new electrical facilities. Existing substations in areas known as High Island, Bluewater, and Sandy Shores will be upgraded, and two new substations known as Palms and Port Bolivar will be constructed to support load growth on the peninsula.

Entergy Louisiana representatives, local officials and community members gathered Wednesday along Louisiana Highway 1 to celebrate the future of power in Grand Isle.

Customers in St. Bernard Parish are now being served by a more reliable and resilient electric system after Entergy Louisiana placed a new substation and transmission lines into service.

Entergy continues to see significant business and industrial growth across its region over the next several years, said Chairman and CEO Drew Marsh, during the company’s 74th annual shareholders meeting that was held virtually today.
