Resiliency in Rolling Fork
The March 24 tornadoes that flattened parts of the Mississippi Delta changed the community forever. Responding to the storm’s aftermath also presented Entergy Mississippi crews with unique challenges and opportunities in the small city of Rolling Fork. The EF-4 tornado destroyed nearly300 homesthat Friday night, and more than 700 service and secondary poles. Like many mobile homes in the city, poles were swept away leaving behind little to no evidence of their existence and requiring a total rebuild.

Entergy Mississippi storm update – 3/31/23, 8 a.m.
As of 8 a.m. Friday, March 31, Entergy Mississippi has restored service to more than 16,500 customers in the northern service area following the March 24 devastating tornadoes, including all customers who can safely take power in Rolling Fork and Silver City. In less than a week, crews were able to rebuild 36 miles of wire, install 895 poles, and replace 489 transformers and 467 crossarms in Rolling Fork, Silver City and Winona.

We continue to make progress in our restoration effort from the tornado and thunderstorm activity that entered our Entergy service territory Friday night in the northern service territory. As of 10 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 235 customers in Rolling Fork and 95 customers in Silver City remain without power. Power is expected to be restored to customers who can safely receive power by 10 p.m. Thursday, March 30.

Entergy Mississippi powers life in Winona after tornado destroys substation
A customized mobile substation gets power back to customers as safely and quickly as possible.nBefore power makes it down distribution lines and into homes, a substation is required to transform voltage to a usable level for safe delivery throughout a community. But in Winona, Mississippi, the substation that usually powers the town was destroyed when catastrophic weather swept through the area last week. Luckily, the brilliant technology of a mobile substation will serve Winona while crews rebuild the permanent substation.

We continue to make progress in our restoration effort from the tornado and thunderstorm activity that entered Entergy Mississippi’s service territory Friday night in the northern service territory. At the outage peak, 15,398 customers were without power and 532 customers remain without power in Rolling Fork and Silver City. Workers and support teams have safely and tirelessly restored power to more than 14,000 customers after the devastating tornado impacted our service territory.

We continue to make progress in our restoration effort from the tornado and thunderstorm activity that entered our Entergy Mississippi service territory Friday night in the northern service territory. At the outage peak, 15,398 customers were without power and 4,374 customers remain without power in Rolling Fork, Silver City and Winona. Most customers that can safely receive power in Winona are expected to be restored by 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28. In the heavily damaged areas of Rolling Fork and Silver City, most customers that can safely receive power are expected to be restored by 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29. As stages of the restoration effort were completed in these areas, 100 resources were reassigned to the central and southern territories. More than 700 lineworkers, substation workers, damage assessment scouts, vegetation workers, and support personnel are left to assist in the northern territory.

Entergy Mississippi crews continue to work on power restoration in the northern portions of our service territory after Friday night’s thunderstorms and tornado. At the outage peak, 15,398 customers were affected, and power has been restored to more than 10,000 customers since Friday. More than 800 lineworkers, substation workers, damage assessment scouts, vegetation workers, and support personnel are assisting in this effort.

Entergy Mississippi storm update – 3/25/23, 8 p.m.
Severe weather, including thunderstorms and a tornado, pelted Entergy Mississippi’s service area Friday night, causing power outages for 15,398 customers at peak. As of 8 p.m., power has been restored to about 9,322 customers. The storm struck the northern portions of our service territory hardest, including Winona, Rolling Fork and Silver City.
