Entergy system winter storm update – 1/17/24, 10 a.m.

Following the four-day winter weather event impacting our service area, the majority of our customers have been restored. Our crews continue to safely restore power to the remaining customers impacted this major winter weather system that brought extreme cold, snow and icing across parts of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Entergy’s vigilance in monitoring for wildfire threats

Communities across Entergy’s service area continue to experience the effects of historic high temperatures combined with extended severe drought conditions. Since the onset of this extraordinary heat wave and lack of rain, we have continually monitored weather conditions and the increased risk of wildfires caused by these highly unusual weather conditions.

September is National Preparedness Month

National Preparedness Month issponsored every Septemberby the Federal Emergency Management Administration to highlight the importance of preparing for disasters and emergencies that could happen at any time. As we roll through the busiest part of the hurricane season and encounter a heightened risk of wildfires, we’re reminded how unpredictable Mother Nature can be year-round: Since January, our customers have been impacted by severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, winter storms and record-breaking heat.

Entergy remains prepared as hurricane season enters high gear

We are now in the busiest phase of hurricane season, with the weeks of late August into mid-September historically delivering the majority of major storms impacting the United States. Even in the “slowest” of seasons, it only takes a single major named storm to upend the lives of millions of people across our area. We continue to encourage everyone to stay vigilant and have plans in place now to deal with any tropical system that may come our way.

Always ready: Entergy’s mobile command center

This year, if needed, our mobile command center is ready to assist in restoration efforts should a tropical system hit our area. The response vehicle can operate at or near the most impacted location a disaster area, with satellite-based communications equipment giving our operations personnel a link to the outside world when oftentimes such capabilities have been knocked offline.

Entergy is ready for a potentially active hurricane season

Hurricane season starts June 1 with predictions of more than a dozen named storms in the Atlantic Basin.nWe prepare for the worst of what Mother Nature might bring, because our customers live in areas prone to some of the most severe weather in the country. Weather is impacting our region with increased strength and frequency, and recent major storms in our area and along the Gulf Coast remind us of the need for vigilance.
