Precision, preparation and pride were on full display as Entergy Arkansas employees and their families gathered for the 2026 Power Delivery Rodeo and Family Day in Hot Springs. The annual event highlighted the expertise of lineworkers and power delivery teams while offering a behind-the-scenes look at the work that powers communities across the state.

“This is a great event for our craftsman to showcase their skills,” said Adam Effrein, Entergy Arkansas vice president of reliability and power delivery.

Throughout the day, apprentices and journeyman teams competed in a series of technical challenges designed to mirror real-world scenarios. From pole climbs to equipment installations, each event tested safety, accuracy and efficiency. While speed is a factor, Effrein emphasized that precision is just as critical.

“In our skills events, speed is just one measure but there are also deductions, so the fastest time doesn’t always win,” he said.

Top performers from the event will go on to represent Entergy Arkansas at the International Lineman’s Rodeo in Kansas City, where they will compete against more than 400 teams from around the world. This year, approximately seven apprentices and nine teams took part in the competition. They were supported by judges who ensured each event was conducted safely and scored accurately.

“Our guys practice year-round for this,” Effrein said. “It allows them to sharpen their skills. We have several hundred people here watching so it gives them the chance to do their craft under a little bit of pressure and it gives their families a chance to see what their loved ones do on a daily basis.”

Family involvement remains a cornerstone of the event. In addition to cheering on competitors, families had the opportunity to engage in activities of their own, including a junior competition that brought out the next generation of talent.

“I brought my son and my daughter,” Effrein said. “My kids are very competitive, so we got here at 6 a.m. because they wanted to practice.”

One of the most popular attractions of the day was the chance to experience a 125-foot transmission bucket truck, offering attendees a unique perspective from high above ground.

“That’s one of the highlights of the event.” Effrein said. “It’s a different view from up there.”

Beyond the competition and activities, the rodeo serves as a moment of recognition for the dedication of Entergy Arkansas employees and the families who support them.

“Our employees work extremely hard,” Effrein said. “This is a 24/7 business and this is one way for us to show appreciation to the families back home who support our employees who keep the lights on in our communities.”

The Power Delivery Rodeo and Family Day continues to be a meaningful tradition — celebrating craftsmanship, strengthening team bonds and honoring the people behind the power.
