Entergy Environmental Initiatives Fund powers new EV station in town of Keo
Representatives from Entergy, Adopt a Charger and the City of Keo, Arkansas, gathered Oct. 17 to celebrate the installation of a new electric vehicle charger in Keo. The charger, equipped with two charging ports, was unveiled as part of National Drive Electric Month, which promotes the benefits of electric vehicles.
Entergy’s Environmental Initiatives Fund provided funding for the Keo charger. It’s the latest success in a partnership between Entergy Arkansas and the nonprofit Adopt a Charger to install EV charging stations at public locations. The project was also supported by Metroplan, the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization that works to determine needs and regional funding priorities for federal transportation.
“At Entergy Arkansas, we’re proud to help communities like Keo prepare for the future of transportation,” said Ventrell Thompson, Entergy Arkansas customer service vice president. “By supporting public charging infrastructure, we’re not only making it easier for Arkansans to choose electric vehicles, we’re also strengthening the network that connects towns, supports local businesses and keeps our state moving forward sustainably.”

Since 2021, EIF funding has enabled Adopt a Charger to install EV chargers at numerous Arkansas sites such as the Art & Science Center in Pine Bluff, Beatles Park in Walnut Ridge, Mt. Nebo State Park, Hot Springs Visitor Center, Little Rock Zoo and many others. You can see the full list of chargers here for Arkansas and other states.
The new charger in Keo is compatible with all plug-in vehicles on the market. They can add up to 25 miles of range per hour. That’s a meaningful boost for residents and visitors who spend time dining and shopping in the town, which is near Little Rock.
“We’re excited about this latest opportunity to work with government and civic leaders in Arkansas to promote sustainable transportation and electrification,” said Sheree Schmidt, senior manager, national accounts and electrification for Entergy.
