THE WOODLANDS, Texas – For the 19th consecutive year, Site Selection magazine has named Entergy a Top Utility in economic development. The communities we serve continue to attract some of the nation’s most competitive and power‑intensive industries in the United States. In 2025, Entergy Texas helped secure more than $30,000 in capital investments and create more than 700 new jobs within Southeast Texas.
“Being recognized as a top utility in economic development is a testament to our commitment to powering growth and opportunity across the communities we serve,” said Ernest Peeples, vice president of business and economic development for Entergy Texas. “By pairing reliable, affordable energy with strategic partnerships and thoughtful investment, we’re helping communities compete for world‑class projects while ensuring our customers benefit from the opportunities that growth brings. ”
Site Selection magazine assesses each utility’s job-creating infrastructure and facility investment trends, innovative programs and incentives for businesses and website tools and data. You can view the magazine’s profile of Entergy in the September 2026 print issue and online.
Customer investments
Capital investments in Southeast Texas over the last 19 years represent a variety of industries and companies from around the world, including chemical processing, manufacturing, metals, pipelines and LNG. Texas has been consecutively awarded the best state to do business due to a strong and robust economy, superior infrastructure and business friendly regulations.
Entergy Texas is moving forward with major infrastructure upgrades through our Southeast Texas Energy Plan, known as STEP Ahead. These improvements will help us better serve longtime customers, support the region’s growing power needs and encourage continued economic development. Projects already underway — including the new Legend and Lone Star power stations, the SETEX and Cypress-Legend transmission lines, and ongoing resiliency upgrades — will strengthen the grid, boost reliability and increase capacity as Southeast Texas continues to grow. Through STEP Ahead, we’re also working to keep rates affordable while making these investments. As of 2025, our rates were 17% below the national average and have remained among the lowest in Texas for the past decade.
