Entergy Corporation was named a recipient of the Edison Electric Institute’s Emergency Response Award for its outstanding response following the January 2026 winter storm.
Presented annually to EEI member companies, the award recognizes Entergy’s commitment to restoring power safely and efficiently to our communities impacted by extreme weather. The winners were selected by a panel of judges through a nomination process and presented during EEI’s September Board of Directors and Chief Executives Meeting.
“When severe weather strikes, our member companies mobilize around the clock to restore power safely and as quickly as possible for the customers they serve,” said Drew Maloney, President and CEO of EEI. “EEI is proud to recognize Entergy with the Emergency Recovery Award for its outstanding response. This honor reflects the skill and determination of Entergy’s workforce, who prepare year-round—practicing, planning, and investing in resilience—so they’re ready to face the toughest conditions and get the lights back on for communities who depend on them.”
Extreme storm, extraordinary response
On Jan. 24, severe winter weather began moving across Entergy’s service territory, bringing snow, ice and freezing rain resulting in widespread power outages for nearly 170,000 customers, with Louisiana and Mississippi being the hardest-hit areas.
Ongoing environmental conditions, including more than an inch of ice in some places and multiple days of extreme cold temperatures, created dynamic challenges. Ultimately, crews restored power for more than 360,000 cumulative outages because customers were impacted multiple times due to ongoing tree damage from the heavy ice.
Restoration efforts involved specialized vehicles and more than 9,400 workers, including 5,700 contract and mutual assistance resources, strategically deployed to the hardest-hit areas.
Entergy remained dedicated to restoring power safely and efficiently, completing restoration for all customers who could safely receive power by Feb. 7.
“Winter Storm Fern tested every part of our organization, and I could not be more proud of how our teams rose to the challenge,” said Dakin DuBroc, vice president, crisis readiness and response. “Even in the most extreme conditions, they demonstrated unwavering commitment, skill and compassion for the communities we serve. This recognition from EEI is a testament to their dedication and to Entergy’s focus on crisis readiness, resilience and continuous improvement. We remain firmly committed to delivering for our customers – no matter what challenges come our way.”
