William White, incident response specialist, leads a presentation on Super Bowl LIX preparations.

Earlier this month, members of Entergy’s incident response team joined a working session with a group of Washington-based utilities, the City of Seattle, and the Washington State Department of Commerce’s energy resilience and emergency management team to share lessons learned from our 2024–2025 planning efforts in preparation for Super Bowl LIX. The National Football League’s championship game was held Feb. 9 in our headquarters city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

The session focused on how we prepared for large-scale operational demands during one of the nation’s most high-profile events. The insights, intended to support Washington utilities and state officials as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, included tournament games hosted in Seattle.

Other utilities requested our insights after team members presented our Super Bowl planning efforts at the Midwest Mutual Assistance Group Conference held in March in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The conference brought together utilities to discuss planning and preparedness for major events occurring within their respective service areas.

“We had the opportunity to present on the company’s preparation efforts surrounding the Super Bowl,” said Marcelle Piglia, incident response manager. “The presentation was part of a larger discussion around large, special events around the country with the goal to build collective knowledge and strengthen response frameworks across the industry.”

The session reflected our commitment to industry collaboration and resilience planning, especially as utilities across the country take on increasingly complex infrastructure and security challenges tied to major national and international events.

“We aren’t exactly sure how much influence our plan will have on the World Cup planning,” said Piglia. “But it is exciting to know other utilities continue to look to us as an industry leader in how we prepare for and respond to events.”

Our incident response organization strives to protect stakeholder outcomes. By being prepared for anything, the team can advance the company’s goal of becoming a premiere utility.
