When severe weather hits, the Rolling Fork community knows it can count on Entergy Mississippi. This small Delta town has faced extraordinary challenges in recent years, and its spirit of resilience shines through every storm.
In March 2023, an EF-4 tornado tore through Rolling Fork, destroying nearly 300 homes and damaging more than 700 power poles. Entergy Mississippi crews worked around the clock to restore power within a week to all customers who could receive it—an extraordinary achievement given the widespread devastation. However, restoring power was just the beginning. Working hand-in-hand with local leaders, Entergy Mississippi essentially rebuilt the power grid from the ground up and made it even stronger than before—replacing old wooden poles with modern steel ones and reinforcing critical infrastructure so the community could be better prepared for whatever came next.
That investment made a real difference this past week, when a winter storm swept across Mississippi, bringing freezing temperatures and heavy ice. While severe conditions caused outages across the state, the grid improvements in Rolling Fork helped the system stand up to the weather better than before. Entergy Mississippi’s storm response teams—including lineworkers, vegetation crews and support personnel—mobilized quickly to restore power safely and efficiently.
This week, Entergy Mississippi President and CEO Haley Fisackerly visited Rolling Fork to see firsthand how recent investments helped the grid perform during the winter storm.
“Rolling Fork has shown incredible resilience, and we’re proud to match that with a stronger, more resilient grid,” said Fisackerly. “Nature challenges us, but our commitment to our customers is stronger. With every upgrade, we’re helping communities like this one weather storms and emerge even stronger.”
Looking ahead, Entergy Mississippi’s Superpower Mississippi plan builds on this same commitment to reliability and resilience by investing in the largest and most comprehensive grid upgrades in company history. The initiative is designed to strengthen infrastructure, deploy advanced monitoring and smart grid technology, and reduce outages by up to 50% over the next five years—all at no additional cost to customers. By making smart investments and thinking ahead, Entergy Mississippi is helping communities like Rolling Fork weather storms today and tomorrow, so families can stay safe, warm and connected, no matter what Mother Nature brings.
