Strong communities are built on strong partnerships and those partnerships grow even stronger when there is understanding, transparency, and trust.
That was the focus of a recent stakeholder engagement event at the Conway facility, where local leaders stepped behind the scenes with Entergy Arkansas to gain a deeper understanding of how power is restored, how systems are managed, and how the company is planning for the future.
A closer look at what powers our communities
The event offered local officials a first-hand look at the complexity behind something most people take for
granted: reliable electricity.
Greenbrier Mayor Sammy Hartwick, attending his first event of this kind, described the experience as “eye-opening.” Like many community leaders, he frequently fields questions from residents during outages, questions about timing, prioritization, and response.
This behind-the-scenes access helped answer those questions.
Leaders walked away with a clearer understanding of the structured, safety-first process crews follow during outages. From prioritizing critical infrastructure to ensuring worker safety, the process is deliberate and essential.
“One of the biggest takeaways for me is that the process is structured and focused on safety. It’s not about prioritizing one person over another, it’s about doing the work the right way so crews can go home safely to their families.”
Just as important, they gained confidence in their ability to communicate those realities back to their constituents.
Turning Information into Better Communication
For communications professionals like Ashton Pruitt, who serves both the City of Greenbrier and the local Chamber of Commerce, the experience highlighted the value of knowledge-sharing.
Learning about outage response processes, as well as available residential and commercial programs, sparked a clear takeaway: there’s an opportunity and a responsibility to better inform the public.
Events like this don’t just share information; they equip local leaders to become stronger communicators and advocates within their communities.
“I learned so much about how the system works and the programs that are available to residents and businesses. Honestly, I didn’t realize how much support was out there,” she said after learning about Entergy Solutions programs that can help homes and businesses save money on their bills and Power to Care that provides bill-pay assistance to households with elderly or disabled members.
“This experience really reinforced that we have a role to play in sharing that information. As community leaders, it’s on us to help spread the word so people can take advantage of these resources,” she said.
Strengthening relationships through transparency
The event wasn’t just about education it was also about connection.
According to Entergy Arkansas leaders, creating opportunities for open dialogue is key to maintaining strong relationships with the communities they serve. By inviting feedback and answering questions directly, Entergy reinforces its commitment to being a responsive and collaborative partner.
That feedback loop matters. Whether it’s concerns about vegetation management or service expectations, hearing directly from local officials helps the company continuously improve.
More than a utility provider
For Tara Denton, the customer service manager who organized the event, the experience is deeply personal.
With family ties to generations of linemen, she emphasized the importance of putting a human face on the work. Events like this highlight that Entergy employees aren’t just service providers they’re neighbors, community members, and stakeholders in the same towns they serve.
“We’re more than just a utility provider, we live and work in these communities, too. Opportunities like this help show that we’re deeply invested in supporting the people and businesses we serve.”
Powering the future, together
From facility tours and safety demonstrations to conversations over lunch, the Conway engagement reinforced a simple but powerful idea: when communities understand how systems work, trust grows.
And with trust comes stronger partnerships, better communication, and more resilient communities.
As Arkansas continues to grow and evolve, those partnerships will be more important than ever. By opening its doors and sharing its processes, Entergy Arkansas is helping ensure that local leaders and the communities they serve are informed, prepared, and ready for what’s ahead.
“Maintaining strong relationships means keeping people informed and listening to their feedback,” said Chris Wasson, regional customer service manager. “What we heard today helps us continue improving and being a better partner to the communities we serve.”
