Entergy Arkansas’s commitment to strengthening the communities it serves was on full display at the recent vendor fair supporting the proposed Jefferson Power Station and Arkansas Cypress Solar projects. Designed to connect local and regional businesses with upcoming contracting opportunities, the events underscored Entergy’s focus on building economic resilience across Arkansas.

Almost 340 company representatives attended the events held in March. Some reported driving for hours to attend both because they saw the vendor fairs as not just information sessions but tangible demonstrations of what it means for a company to invest in the places where it operates.

As Malvern/Hot Spring County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lance Howell shared:

“I had the pleasure of attending a portion of Entergy’s recent vendor fair in preparation of the new power plant construction. It was more than I expected, and the turnout and interest shown by potential subcontractors was impressive. Entergy has always been a tremendous community partner, and the extra effort to reach out and recruit local and regional businesses to participate in these big projects proves Entergy’s commitment to Arkansans and our economies.”

Entergy’s project management partner, Kiewit, echoed this emphasis on local engagement. Sam Tofan, Supply Chain Manager for Kiewit, noted:

“Local companies bring valuable knowledge, pride, and commitment to each project. Prioritizing local participation reflects our desire to build strong communities, promote economic growth, and create shared success where our projects take place.”

This shared philosophy reflects the core purpose behind Entergy’s supplier engagement efforts: creating pathways for Arkansas businesses to grow, compete, and succeed.

This intentional outreach aligns directly with the Job Power pillar of Next Generation Arkansas, Entergy’s initiative focused on preparing the state’s workforce and expanding access to high quality job opportunities. By prioritizing local companies for construction and service contracts, Entergy demonstrates the power of how Arkansas Building Arkansas helps ensure that major energy infrastructure projects deliver long term benefits that extend well beyond the worksite.

At the upcoming Ironwood project near Malvern, for example, Entergy’s strategy to recruit local contractors is expected to generate hundreds of construction jobs and sustain ongoing positions once the plant is operational. As Howell noted, the project not only continues a century long relationship between Entergy and Hot Spring County but also supports local families and strengthens the regional economy.

“Whether through largescale energy initiatives or community partnerships, Entergy remains dedicated to lifting local economies by opening doors for Arkansas-based firms,” said Rivers Frederick, Supplier Engagement Manger for Entergy Services.

“Connecting businesses with opportunity isn’t just good for Entergy, it’s essential for building a stronger future for the state’s workforce and communities,” he said. “It’s a responsibility we take seriously as we plan for Arkansas’s energy future.”
