When Arkansas temperatures climb, air conditioners work harder to keep homes cool and that can mean higher energy use.
Helping customers manage those costs is a key part of Entergy Arkansas’s Next Generation Arkansas vision, which is designed to meet the state’s growing energy needs while delivering reliable, affordable power for customers and communities. Through the Affordable Power pillar, Entergy Arkansas is working to help keep energy costs manageable while connecting customers with resources that can help them take greater control of their energy use.
Entergy Solutions is putting that commitment into action.
The team recently traveled to Dover, where trade allies performed energy efficiency improvements on manufactured homes at no cost to the customer. Entergy Solutions representatives also connected with residents and raised awareness about available programs.
“Getting out in these communities, performing outreach and hosting events is very crucial to getting participation and making sure people are aware of the great services that Entergy Arkansas offers,” said Greg Pierce, Entergy Solutions Multi-Family Homes program manager.
One of those customers was Matthew Martin, who has lived in his home for about four years.
“We’ve noticed a lot of separations in the house, a lot of leaks,” Martin said.
A closer look by the trade ally revealed several areas that could be affecting the home’s efficiency.
“A lot of the vents as they come up through the floor were just really sagging down from that duct system, had lots of gaps and cracks on the seams of the duct work,” said TAG Energy Savers owner Gavin Mattox. “There was also a lot of work to be done on the envelope of the home itself like those doors and windows and plumbing connections down through the floor.”
For Martin, the work provided an opportunity to address issues in his home while potentially reducing the amount of energy it takes to keep his family comfortable.
“It’s awesome,” Martin said. “I am thankful for them coming in to help make our home more energy efficient.”
As Entergy Arkansas works to power the next generation, programs like Entergy Solutions demonstrate how affordable power can start with improvements made one home and one customer at a time.
“I think everybody should take advantage of it,” Martin said.
For the Entergy Solutions team, each home is an opportunity to make an impact that lasts after the work is complete.
“It’s really a good feeling to know that you’ve made a difference and improved their quality of life after you leave,” Pierce said.
Owners or renters of manufactured homes located within the Entergy Arkansas electric service territory are eligible for the Entergy Arkansas Manufactured Homes Program.
