Simple things you can do to lower your energy bill

Manage your thermostat

During winter, set your thermostat to the lowest comfortable temperature. The smaller the difference between the inside and the outside temperatures, the lower your bill will be.

Insulate drafty windows

Seal windows with heavy-duty clear plastic, either on a frame or taped directly to the inside of window frames, to reduce drafts and heat loss.

Use solar energy

Open blinds, shades and curtains during the day to let sunlight naturally warm your home, and close them at night to reduce the chill from cold windows.

Maintain heating systems

Schedule regular heating system maintenance and replace furnace or heat pump filters monthly or as needed.

Find and seal leaks

Seal air leaks around pipes, recessed lights in insulated ceilings and unfinished areas behind cupboards and closets.
