LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Entergy Arkansas recently awarded Women & Children First in Little Rock Arkansas $53,227.50 in incentives for energy efficiency projects completed as part of the Entergy Solutions Large Commercial and Industrial program’s mission-based offering. Women & Children First completed construction on their new domestic violence shelter, Forest of Hope Family Peace Center, in Little Rock.

By participating in the Entergy Solutions program, Women & Children First received $53,227.59 in incentives and saved 212,910.396 kilowatt hours of electricity usage. Projects completed for their new construction shelter included interior and exterior lighting, lighting controls, HVAC systems and exhaust fan motors.

Women & Children First is Arkansas’s largest and longest-running domestic violence shelter, providing a safe place and a supportive network for survivors and their children for nearly 50 years. With the opening of the Forest of Hope Family Peace Center, the organization is leading a new coordinated response to domestic violence by bringing shelter, advocacy, counseling, legal support, healthcare connections, children’s services, and other critical resources together in one safe place.

“For us, every dollar we save on utilities is another dollar we can invest directly into serving families and individuals impacted by domestic violence,” said Angela McGraw, chief executive officer of Women & Children First. “Participating in the Entergy Solutions program helped us build a new facility with lower energy usage, and these savings strengthen our ability to provide a safe and supportive environments for the Arkansans who depend on us.”
