With winter weather expected to impact central and south Arkansas this weekend, Entergy Arkansas is ready to serve our customers safely and reliably and is urging them to take a few simple steps to prepare their homes and families.
Entergy Arkansas has taken proactive measures to prepare our electric system for freezing temperatures, ice and winter precipitation. This includes inspecting critical equipment and infrastructure, strengthening power delivery systems, and positioning crews and resources across the service area so we can respond quickly and safely if outages occur.
“We work year-round to strengthen the grid and sharpen our response plans so when winter weather moves in, we can respond quickly and safely,” said Adam Effrein, vice president of reliability for Entergy Arkansas. “Our teams are prepared for the challenging conditions winter can bring, and we encourage our customers to be prepared as well.”
What Entergy Arkansas is doing
To help reduce the risk of outages and support restoration efforts if needed, Entergy Arkansas has:
- Inspected substations, transmission lines and other critical infrastructure.
- Insulated power plant equipment and piping where needed.
- Trimmed vegetation near power lines to help reduce tree-related outages.
- Reviewed emergency response plans and stood up storm resources in key locations.
These efforts complement our ongoing reliability work to keep the electric system resilient throughout the year.
How customers can prepare
Restoration efforts following winter storms can be dangerous for a multitude of reasons, including weighed-down vegetation, icy road conditions and freezing temperatures. Winter weather conditions may also limit safe access for crews and require additional time to make repairs. Customers are urged to take precautions now and not impede our work zones should outages occur for both their safety and the safety of Entergy crews.
Customers can take some steps now to stay safe and informed:
- Visit the Entergy Storm Center at entergy.com/stormcenter for winter weather tips and safety information.
- Verify contact information in your myEntergy account so you receive alerts and notifications.
- Download the Entergy mobile app to report outages and view restoration progress.
- Have an emergency plan and supplies ready in case of outages.
Winter weather can be unpredictable, but preparation helps keep families safe and connected. Entergy Arkansas will continue to monitor conditions, communicate with customers and respond effectively throughout this winter weather event.
