THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Entergy Texas is prepared and ready to respond to potential impacts from the developing tropical system as it moves through the Gulf toward the Texas coast. Current forecasts indicate the system could bring heavy rainfall and periods of gusty winds to parts of Southeast Texas, with the greatest impacts currently expected along the coast and across the eastern portion of our service territory.
Entergy Texas remains storm ready 365 days a year through continuous planning, training and improvement. In advance of the expected weather, the company has assessed the electrical system and positioned personnel and equipment to support a safe and efficient response:
- Activated our emergency operations center and have crews rotating shifts for 24-hour response coverage.
- Deployed more than 60 vegetation crews to targeted locations across the service area to address vegetation that could impact our electrical equipment.
- Positioned two helicopters and our drone fleet to support aerial damage assessments following the storm, if needed.
“Our teams are ready to respond if this system impacts our customers,” said Frank Shannon, vice president of reliability for Entergy Texas. “We’re positioning people and resources in areas where they can respond quickly and safely, and we encourage our customers to use this time to review their emergency plans and prepare their homes and families.”
Entergy Texas encourages customers to stay weather aware and prepare now by having an emergency kit with basic supplies, including any medical needs that require electricity. Customers should continue monitoring forecasts and follow guidance from local emergency management officials as conditions develop.
