Every year, Entergy New Orleans celebrates Black Energy Awareness Month (B.E.A.M.)by honoring the invaluable contributions of minorities to the energy industry and highlighting the critical role energy plays in daily life. This year, we partnered with the Greater New Orleans Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) and other local organizations to bring the Power Circuit Tour to students at Lake Forest Charter School. The event sparked students’ curiosity in energy-related careers and offered them insights into the diverse pathways available within the energy sector.

Entergy sponsors scholarship event and presents Unsung Hero Award

Entergy sponsored the 2nd Annual New Orleans Association of Black Journalists Jazz Brunch and Silent Auction, supporting the organization’s scholarship fund. The event honored two local veteran journalists and awarded two scholarships named in their honor: the Nancy Parker Memorial Scholarship awarded to TaShia Hogue, and the William “Bill” Rousselle Memorial Scholarship awarded to Kennedy Wells. These scholarships will assist the recipients in furthering their education.

Entergy New Orleans and Urban League of Louisiana partner to create clean energy jobs

Entergy New Orleans and the Urban League of Louisiana have partnered to launch a career training program that bridges the gap between job seekers in underrepresented populations and career opportunities in the clean energy sector. Entergy New Orleans recently presented Urban League of Louisiana with a $25,000 check to support the workforce development initiative.

Today, we recognize a member of a team that perhaps goes unnoticed until needed, that is, when a physical exam is required or medical qualifications need updating, or just when a nagging cough needs some extra attention. In addition, they work in the access organization, responsible for screening, testing and authorizing access to our nuclear facilities. As part of that group, they help administer the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Fitness for Duty program, which ensures that our workers are always fit to operate and maintain the plants.
