Since Hurricane Ida passed through southeast Louisiana, thousands have been on the front lines helping restore power, but they have not experienced this journey alone. Several Entergy employees from across our four-state service territory have traveled to join their coworkers in serving Louisiana customers’ needs, in-person, at Customer Information Centers until power is restored to the area.

Hurricane Ida Restoration Remains Vigorously Underway

Hurricane Ida’s swift and mighty approach through the Gulf of Mexico, brought extreme devastation as it made landfall as a strong Category 4 storm (not far from Category 5 status) near Port Fourchon, Louisiana. Its fury resulted in some communities deemed as uninhabitable, sustained winds of 150 mph, storm surge reported over 15 feet, heavy rain, tornadoes, flooding and loss of life.

Entergy Louisiana Hurricane Ida Update – 9/13/21

The latest track from the National Weather Service, shown below, forecasts a Texas landfall for Tropical Storm Nicholas as it moves erratically just offshore the northeastern coast of Mexico. As Nicholas tracks north across Texas, the tropical system is expected to bring heavy rains and wind across the central and northern portions of Louisiana as it makes an eastward turn mid-week. We will continue to monitor the projected path and stand prepared for any potential impact to our service territory. As we keep a close eye on Nicholas, we are also continuing to restore power to our customers affected by Ida. Despite the rain and thunderstorms that swept across the region yesterday, our crews have restored 800,000 of the 902,000 Louisiana customers who lost power.  Safety remains our top priority throughout the restoration effort. With severe weather expected to move through our area this week, our crews will shelter in either their trucks or another safe site if lightning is within 10 miles of a work location. In addition, our teams cannot put their buckets in the air when winds are greater than 30 mph. Please know, once conditions improve, we will resume our work to restore power quickly and safely.  We remain focused and committed to not stopping until the last light is on.
