Entergy Mississippi Crews Restore Power, Prepare for Cristobal

A line of thunderstorms caused widespread power outages for more than 15,000 customers throughout our service area late Friday, June 5. As of 3 p.m., Entergy Mississippi crews have restored power for more than 12,600 customers. The majority of those customers still without power are in Grenada, Hinds and Tallahatchie counties with scattered trouble in the other counties. Entergy resource workers continue to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. We have also brought in additional resources assist with restoration efforts.

A Safety Conversation with Josh Vance

Josh Vance has been familiar with Entergy all his life. He remembers the company’s strong community presence in his hometown of Brookhaven, Mississippi. More than a decade ago, Josh joined the company as an engineering co-op student. Since then he has held several engineering roles and served as a line supervisor. Today, Josh is Entergy Mississippi’s construction manager, based in Jackson.  

Entergy Mississippi Completes Restoration From Latest Storm

Entergy Mississippi has restored power to all customers affected by a line of severe thunderstorms that caused 26,836 customer outages on Thursday, April 23. This is the third storm in two weeks to strike and cause widespread damage in our service areas. Since Easter Sunday, our crews have restored service to more than 72,500 customers who lost power as a result of the three severe weather events. Total damage amounted to more than 500 broken poles, 1,250 spans of wire down, and damage to 130 transformers. 

Entergy Mississippi Completes Easter Storm Restoration

Entergy Mississippi crews have restored service to nearly 41,000 customers who lost power during storms that struck our service area on Sunday, April 12. Entergy’s grid sustained considerable damage, mostly north of a line from Yazoo City to Kosciusko, and several communities were without power for nearly a week. Damage included more than 427 broken poles, 890 spans of wire down, and damage to 94 transformers. More than 1,150 field workers, contractors and support staff assisted with our restoration efforts. All customers affected by this storm who can safely accept electrical service have been restored.

Update: Power Restored to More Than 34,000 Entergy Mississippi Customers

Entergy Mississippi crews have made steady storm restoration progress since Easter Sunday. Power has been restored to more than 34,000 customers. As of 7 p.m., about 6,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of nearly 41,000. We expect to restore most customers who can safely take power by late tonight. Some outages will carry over through Thursday evening, especially in the hardest-hit areas of  Carroll, Coahoma, Grenada, Leflore, Montgomery, Panola, Sunflower, Tallahatchie and Yalobusha counties.

Crews Make Progress, Continue Restoration Efforts After Easter Storm

Entergy Mississippi crews have made significant progress to restore power after Easter Sunday storms left nearly 41,000 customers without power. More than 22,700 customers have been restored and, as of 10 a.m., about 18,000 remain without power. We have more than 1,150 field workers, contractors and support staff assisting with our restoration efforts.
