Entergy has been part of Jerry Wilson Jr.’s life as long as he can remember. His father recently retired from the company after 40 years of service. When it came time to choose his own career path, Jerry was naturally drawn to the company. He joined Entergy Mississippi as a lineman trainee 18 years ago. Since then, he has worked in Jackson, Clinton and Vicksburg in various roles, including journeyman lineman, operations coordinator, service supervisor and construction supervisor. Currently a construction supervisor in Jackson, Jerry works diligently to provide safe and reliable service to customers every day.
Power has been restored to more than 65,000 customers since severe weather struck Entergy Mississippi’s service areas on Tuesday. Nearly 80,000 customers were affected by the wave of thunderstorms, lightning, high winds and tornadoes that caused widespread power outages.
Entergy Mississippi has restored power to more than 53,000 customers after severe weather struck our service territory late Tuesday, causing outages for nearly 80,000 customers. As of 6 p.m., about 26,000 customers remain without power. Most of the remaining outages are in areas hit hardest by the storm, including Copiah, Hinds, Madison, Rankin and Warren counties.
Severe weather pelted Entergy Mississippi’s service area Tuesday afternoon and evening, causing power outages for nearly 80,000 customers. As of 10 a.m., power has been restored to about 40,000 customers. The storm struck the central and southern portions of our service territory hardest. About a third of the remaining outages are concentrated in the metro-Jackson area.
Utility workers encounter unusual circumstances in the field, ranging from frightening to heartwarming. After retiring in 2018 from a 44-year career as a lineman, Danny Lowery thought he had experienced it all. And then the Entergy Mississippi retiree worked the February ice storm.
Anyone who knew Charlie Elam, Jr. knew he was generous. He gave his time and talents to his church, singing in the choir and building anything they needed. As a shift serviceman at Entergy Mississippi, he shared his experience with co-workers and did all he could to help customers.
Coordinating logistics for storm restoration might be mind-blowing for some, but for Kevin Weber, it’s simple. “The Entergy logistics team lives by the motto ‘heads in beds and fed’ for every storm,” said the director of security policy and compliance and Entergy’s storm logistics section chief.
