Just as an offensive lineman works hard to protect the quarterback during a football game, Entergy’s linemen work hard to protect customers, braving the heat and cold and giving up time spent with family on nights and weekends to provide the electricity that powers their lives. Our linemen’s dedication and sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
Entergy’s Lineman of the Game program, coordinated in collaboration with the New Orleans Saints professional football team, is one way that our linemen are recognized for their hard work and commitment. Entergy Mississippi’s Kutter McLaughlin was honored as the Lineman of the Game at the Saints game against the San Francisco 49ers, held Sunday at the Superdome.
A shift serviceman in Jackson, McLaughlin was selected for going above and beyond to serve customers, while always having his team members’ backs. He has worked for Entergy for 10 years and in the trade for 15 years. He enjoys troubleshooting and recounts his time during the restoration effort following Hurricane Harvey, which required traveling in boats to access damaged equipment, among his most memorable experiences on the job.
In recognition of his skill and dedication as an Entergy lineman, McLaughlin and his wife, Dr. Teresa Hulsey, were treated to a VIP experience on Sunday, which kicked off with a pre-game reception inside the Superdome. During the reception, Saints’ staff members presented McLaughlin with a commemorative football that noted his selection as Lineman of the Game.
Just before kickoff, the lights in the Superdome were lowered and a video of McLaughlin flipping the switch to bring the lights up for the game was shown on the jumbotron, when he was recognized in front of more than 70,000 fans as the Entergy Lineman of the Game.
The McLaughlins enjoyed watching the game, including a dynamic halftime show by Alcorn State University, in the Entergy Suite, where they were joined by Haley Fisackerly, president and CEO of Entergy Mississippi, and several other Entergy team members from across the company. One of the highlights of the game was when the Saints mascot, Gumbo, made an appearance to congratulate McLaughlin on his honor.
The Saints fought hard and played a close game but could not pull out a win against the 49ers, posting a final score of 26 to 21.
