Entergy New Orleans joined Mayor Helena Moreno, Councilmember Jason Hughes, Delgado Community College, local elected officials, business leaders and community partners as the City of Orleans unveiled the New Orleans East Investment and Job Corridor, a major initiative designed to accelerate economic development, attract new industries and create jobs in New Orleans East.
The city’s plan focuses on two key development areas: the Michoud Innovation Corridor, designed to attract aerospace, technology and advanced manufacturing industries, and the Port and Logistics Corridor, which will strengthen the area’s position as a regional hub for logistics, shipping and commerce.
For Entergy New Orleans, economic development projects that attract major employers create benefits that extend throughout the city by strengthening the commercial customer base, supporting job creation which helps keep costs down for residential customers.
“Entergy New Orleans is proud to collaborate with community leaders, organizations, and partners on transformative projects that drive economic development, attract new industries, and create jobs in New Orleans East,” said Deanna Rodriguez, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans. “When we grow the East, we grow opportunity for the entire city.”
Attracting major employers in industries such as logistics, aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing will help expand the city’s commercial customer base, strengthen the overall tax base and create new pathways for workforce development. With the I-510 Corridor, Michoud Innovation Corridor and Port and Logistics Corridor, New Orleans East has the potential to become a leading destination for investment and a hub for future growth.
“What has been missing is a coordinated effort to prepare sites, improve infrastructure, recruit investment,” said Mayor Helena Moreno. “This initiative will bring those pieces together under one unified vision to tell one compelling story to employers and investors.”
The initiative will focus on building upon existing industries while creating opportunities for additional businesses, including restaurants, retail, hotels and other services that support a growing workforce and community.
Entergy New Orleans remains committed to partnering with the City of New Orleans, Delgado Community College, elected officials, businesses and community organizations to help build the infrastructure needed to support long-term economic growth and create new opportunities for the residents of New Orleans.
