John Brossman, a journeyman serviceman with Entergy Texas, will step into the spotlight as Entergy Texas’ Lineman of the Game during the New Orleans Saints vs. Arizona Cardinals matchup on Sept. 7 at the Caesars Superdome.
The Lineman of the Game recognition program is a collaboration between Entergy and the Saints honoring outstanding Entergy pipe or lineworkers for their hard work and dedication to the company and the community. As part of this special recognition, Brossman—accompanied by his wife, Ashley—will attend their first-ever NFL game. They’ll have the chance to see players up close on the field and enjoy a VIP experience during spirited pregame activities.
“Mr. Brossman was chosen because he’s reliable, safety-conscious, productive and cares about the customer,” said George Russell, Entergy Texas line supervisor for the Conroe Network.
Brossman has been with Entergy Texas for just under two years and brings 18 years of trade experience, including 15 years as a lineman.
His inspiration? A childhood spent watching apprentices train outside a union hall where his grandfather, a former tree trimmer turned union representative, worked.
Brossman’s journey to Texas began in 2008, when he traveled from New Jersey as a contractor to help restore power after Hurricane Ike. The experience left a lasting impact, and he eventually chose to relocate, calling Conroe, Texas, home and joining the same network he once supported during the storm.
“It’s come full circle,” Brossman said. “I was here helping during one of the state’s toughest times and now I serve this community every day.”
What do you enjoy most about being a lineman?
“Doing quality work, doing it safely, interacting with customers and working with my peers,” said Brossman. “There’s nothing more rewarding than getting the lights back on.”
What advice would you give to those considering this career path?
“It’s a good trade and a good way of life, but your family has to be ready for the sacrifices that come with it,” said Brossman. “Learn your craft, make safety your top priority, and remember you’ll learn something new every day.”
Congratulations to John Brossman, a lineman whose career reflects commitment, craftsmanship and care. Entergy Texas is proud to celebrate his achievements and the impact he makes every day.
