Meet Andrew Gautreaux, a project manager located at River Bend Station in Killona, Louisiana, who recently joined the data strategy and innovation team.

For Gautreaux, joining the team is a step towards helping reshape how teams access and use information to improve equipment reliability.

Gautreaux stated his 12 years in process automation and six years in the nuclear industry have shaped his core beliefs.

“The best processes are the ones that help enable people to do their best work,” he said. “I believe the work we are doing is necessary. By automating repetitive tasks and reimagining workflows, teams are able to eliminate redundancies and concentrate on higher-value and higher-impact work.”

An Entergy journey defined by growth

Originally raised in Baton Rouge, LA., Gautreaux attended Louisiana State University, where he earned bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and computer science.

Gautreaux joined Entergy in 2020 at River Bend Station as a part of the component maintenance support team within the plant support engineering organization. In that role, he managed the cable program while also supporting breakers and relays.

A few years later, he stepped into a preventive maintenance engineering role, where he began focusing on improving PM-related processes.

Unlike many nuclear professionals who begin their careers in the nuclear industry, Gautreaux’s background comes from the oil, gas and chemical industries. Prior to joining Entergy, he spent approximately 12 years working in process automation, where he gained firsthand experience implementing technology designed to improve safety, efficiency and operational performance.

Gautreaux’s experiences provided him with a unique perspective when he entered the nuclear industry.

“I had the opportunity to see a broad range of technology and how other industries implemented safety measures and automation,” he stated. “When I came into nuclear, I immediately began looking for opportunities to improve workflows and automate processes. The strong regulatory framework within nuclear actually clarifies priorities and ensures that innovations enhance both safety and efficiency.”

One of Gautreaux’s primary focuses is developing web-based applications that streamline maintenance strategy workflows.

“The work I enjoy most is providing solutions that save time by pulling key information together for users,” he explained. “Instead of teams spending time manually searching through multiple systems, we are helping them shift focus from locating data to analyzing it. Those decisions collectively will improve plant operations and enhance equipment reliability.”

Looking ahead

As Entergy continues exploring new opportunities in data strategy, automation and artificial intelligence, Gautreaux remains focused on creating solutions that make work easier for others.

For Gautreaux, the safety and success of improving data is measured not only by the technology being developed but also by the people it empowers.
