Natchez journeyman lineman Corvan Day will represent Entergy Mississippi as Lineman of the Game as the New Orleans Saints take on the Atlanta Falcons in a Monday Night matchup in the Superdome.
Some linemen follow in the footsteps of their family members or family friends in choosing the profession. This was not the case for Corvan Day. He is a first-generation lineman who took an interest in becoming a lineman and found he has a passion for it.
This passion shows through in the way he shows up every day as a journeyman lineman in Natchez and has earned him recognition as a Lineman of the Game.
“Corvan is the picture of what a lineman should be,” said Daylon Self, line superintendent, Natchez. “He comes to work every day ready to work and completes all tasks the right way. He is a great choice to represent Entergy Mississippi as Lineman of the Game.”
Day enjoys helping customers, both those close to home and those in other states when Entergy Mississippi team members have been called on to provide mutual assistance after a hurricane. One of his most impactful experiences was helping restore power to Florida residents after Hurricane Helene.
“I loved seeing how excited people were when the lights came back on,” said Day.
An Entergy employee for eight years, Day received his training with Entergy and served his apprenticeship in Gloster before being named a journeyman lineman in Natchez. He enjoys the variety of his daily routine—that there is nothing routine about his days.
“No two days are the same,” said Day. “I see different situations and learn something new every day.”
He finds satisfaction in finding solutions and fixing issues to restore power to customers. It is also gratifying to realize that tasks that once took a long time to complete have become second nature over time and practice.
“Working as a lineman is super-rewarding,” said Day. “It’s not just a job. You have to love it—have a passion for it.”
When not at work, Day enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, and three children, following them in their many activities, and being involved at Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Natchez. He also enjoys hunting and cooking
A football fan, Day played center for the Adams County Christian School football team in high school and loves watching college football, particularly the Mississippi State University Bulldogs. While he has attended more than 200 college football games, the Saints game will be the first NFL game he has attended, so he is looking forward to lighting up the Dome as the Lineman of the Game!
