National Infrastructure Week invites us to consider the systems that fuel our communities, economy, and everyday lives. At the heart of Arkansas’s progress is a resilient and forward-thinking electric grid—one that underpins opportunity and quality of life statewide.

As Arkansas grows, so does the need for reliable and innovative energy solutions. New businesses are setting roots, established industries are evolving, and communities are expanding. Meanwhile, our infrastructure faces new challenges, from shifting usage patterns to extreme weather events. All of this sparks a crucial question: What should Arkansas’s grid look like for the next generation?

Next Generation Arkansas: Pillars for Progress

Better Power: We’re investing in modernizing the grid, strengthening reliability, integrating advanced technologies, and improving restoration times after outages. From smarter systems that anticipate disruptions to hardened infrastructure that withstands severe weather, these efforts ensure Arkansans can depend on consistent, high-quality power in every season. A stronger grid doesn’t just respond to today’s needs, it anticipates tomorrow’s demands. One example is our efforts with vegetation management that works to enhance grid reliability and resilience.

More Power: Entergy Arkansas is committed to expanding generation and transmission to meet rising demand and support long-term growth. By building capacity today, we are positioning Arkansas to compete for major economic development opportunities, including energy-intensive industries that bring jobs and investment. More power means more possibilities for communities across the state. As we prepare to build the generation needed to meet growing demand, such as with our Jefferson Power Station, we do so in a responsible way that meets the needs of our customers.

Job Power: Our focus extends beyond infrastructure. Through workforce development programs, training partnerships, and support for education initiatives, we’re helping build a pipeline of skilled workers ready to lead Arkansas into the future. These efforts create pathways to good-paying jobs while strengthening local economies and ensuring the benefits of growth are widely shared. It’s all part of empowering Arkansans to build Arkansas and one example is how we’ve been preparing local businesses to compete and succeed through our vendor fairs.

Affordable Power: We are dedicated to keeping energy costs manageable for families and businesses. Through smart investments, operational efficiency, and long-term planning, Next Generation Arkansas prioritizes value without sacrificing reliability. Central to this commitment is Entergy’s Fair Share Plus pledge, which ensures that large, hyperscale customers pay their fair share of the costs associated with serving them, helping protect everyday customers from subsidizing new, high-demand users while they benefit from the new infrastructure added to power those clients. By aligning growth with fairness and accountability, we can support economic development while maintaining stable, predictable energy costs for all Arkansans. We know that many in our state are sandwiched between rising costs in other areas and energy usage that increase during summer heat and winter cold. That’s why we joined customers, community action agencies, and national advocates in Washington, D.C., for LIHEAP Action Days to further our commitment to affordability.

Infrastructure is not a one-time investment, it requires ongoing commitment. Delivering More PowerBetter PowerJob Power and Affordable Power depends on collaboration among utilities, policymakers, regulators and communities. Infrastructure, by its nature, is a shared responsibility, and its success depends on sustained partnership and forward-looking leadership.

The stakes are high. The decisions we make today will shape Arkansas’s future for generations. By strengthening our energy foundation, we are doing more than keeping the lights on, we are enabling innovation, attracting new industries, supporting resilient communities, and ensuring Arkansas remains a place where people and businesses can thrive.

From integrating cleaner energy sources to fostering economic growth, Entergy Arkansas’s Next Generation Arkansas pillars outline a vision for a vibrant, sustainable future—one powered by opportunity, resilience and progress.
