Entergy New Orleans demonstrates our ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and resilience by supporting sustainability efforts through the Environmental Initiatives Fund. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Entergy shareholders supporting initiatives in energy efficiency, public education, habitat restoration, waste reduction, and resiliency. Since 2001, Entergy shareholders have invested nearly $45 million in projects that promote environmental sustainability.
“We are proud to support organizations that are dedicated to protecting the environment and strengthening communities, said Deanna Rodriguez, president and CEO at Entergy New Orleans. “Through the Environmental Initiatives Fund, we are able to contribute to projects that have a positive impact on both local ecosystems and residents.”
The fund recently awarded $1 million to local environmental partners across Entergy’s four-state service area. In New Orleans, the fund has supported initiatives such as Audubon Institute’s “Party for the Planet,” an immersive educational series promoting sustainability throughout the year with events like “Spring into Action,” “Endangered Species Day,” “World Ocean Day” and “Pollination Celebration.”
Additionally, the fund provides support to organizations like the City Park Conservancy for a comprehensive aquatic restoration project addressing environmental degradation in its historic lagoon and bayou system. It also supports Grounds Krewe’s Sustainable Throw Catalog, which promotes eco-friendly parade throws and aims to reduce landfill waste during Mardi Gras.
“Entergy’s Environmental Initiatives Fund has played a foundational and transformative role in our organization’s development,” said Brett Davis, director at Grounds Krewe. “Entergy’s early belief in our mission, before our impact and stability were fully established, provided the critical support that made everything that followed possible.”
The Environmental Initiatives Fund helps reduce emissions, protect natural resources, and restore wetlands and forests. It also supports projects that educate Entergy’s customers, employees and communities about the importance of environmental stewardship.
