As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, River Bend Station successfully completed its 40 for 40 initiative, a campaign designed to commemorate four decades of powering our communities through meaningful engagement and volunteerism.
The initiative challenged employees to complete 40 volunteer and community outreach events leading up to the station’s 40th anniversary. Through partnerships with local schools, nonprofit organizations, community groups and civic leaders, employees dedicated their time and talents to making a positive impact throughout the region.
The effort included educational outreach, STEM engagement activities, food assistance programs, volunteer service programs, community events and support for local organizations that strengthen the communities served by Entergy.
“While we are proud of the clean, reliable nuclear energy we have provided for the past 40 years, what makes this milestone meaningful is the opportunity to give back to the communities that have supported us throughout our history,” said Rob Melton, general manager of plant operations at River Bend Station. “The 40 for 40 initiative demonstrated the dedication and generosity of our employees. They embraced this challenge and showed their commitment to being a strong community partner.”
The success of the initiative was made possible through collaboration with numerous community organizations and school boards.
“Through the 40 for 40 initiative, Entergy River Bend employees have demonstrated a strong commitment to service and to the well-being of our community,” said Liz Pfifer, president and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. “In 2025, Entergy contributed more volunteer hours at the Food Bank than any other company, helping us put meals on the table for neighbors facing food insecurity across our service area.”
“The Zachary Community School District is incredibly grateful for Entergy’s continued partnership and generous support of our students. Through robotics grant funding and opportunities such as mock interviews, Entergy is helping our students connect classroom learning to real-world skills, career pathways and future opportunities,” said Ben Necaise, superintendent of Zachary Community School District. “This partnership reflects the power of community investment in education, and we deeply appreciate Entergy’s commitment to strengthening our schools, supporting innovation and preparing students for success beyond graduation.”
As River Bend Station celebrates its 40th anniversary, the completion of the 40 for 40 initiative serves as a reminder that the plant’s impact extends beyond generating electricity. Through volunteerism, education and community partnerships, Entergy employees continue to invest in the future of the state and people who call it home.
